Salisbury International Arts Festival: 24th May – 16th June 2023
For 50 years, Salisbury has been host to a wide variety of performances from world renowned acts from music, theatre, film, dance, spoken word and visual arts. The full line up will be announced in March but this will include family friendly shows together with free events held around the city. The city lies around 20 minutes from the cottage and is a wonderful place to explore. Chalke Valley History Festival – 26th June – 2nd July
Following on immediately after the Arts Festival is the infamous Chalke Valley History Festival. The festival is the brainchild of our local historian and author James Holland and the founder/former CEO of Ottakar’s bookshops and now historical novelist James Heneage. With tickets available from April, this festival takes place only 6 miles from the cottage in Broad Chalke. Enjoy over 400+ talks and events, air displays, children’s events, workshops, book store, food and drink, live music, shopping, interactive living history and experiences. Verve Wellness Festival – 16th & 17th September 2023
Equally near but towards the direction of the local town of Tisbury, the Verve Wellness Festival caters for those wanting to celebrate health, wellness and nature. Set in the grounds of the beautiful Hatch House, the beautiful country house has views across the Vale of Wardour and the family home of Sir Henry and Lady Rumbold. Boasting a huge variety of mediation, yoga and fitness classes, with talks, an area specially dedicated to supporting women’s health and classes specifically for children, there is most certainly something for everyone. End of the Road Festival – 31st August – 3rd September 2023
For the music lover in all of us, there is the End of the Road Festival later in the year from 31st August to 3rd September. Located only 12 miles from the cottage in Larmer Tree Gardens, the line up includes music, comedy, films, literature and workshops. With previous performances by bands such as Hot Chip, Pixies, Damon Albarn, Arlo Parks, Stereolab, Fleet Foxes and Sleaford Mods, this is a unique festival with a very relaxed and friendly feel to it and is for everyone who loves music. The first wave of acts playing this year has just been announced, with headliners King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Future Islands, Wilco and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
